1 Foreword

These materials were created from the book written by Nick Tierney, rmd4sci, for a 2019 APPS meeting workshop, “Reproducible reports and research using R” as an Open Plant Pathology initiative. Minor changes have been made to the materials for this workshop. However, the materials remain largely the work of Nick, we thank him for his efforts to create this and for joining us in presenting this workshop. What follows is Nick’s introduction to this material.
